CM Murad Ali Shah Leads Qalandar Eleven Against Bhittai Eleven in Independence Day Cricket Match

Karachi (9 August): As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a friendly cricket match titled “Independence Day – The Battle for Rights” was held at DA Moin Khan Stadium under the management of the Sindh Sports Department.

The event featured two teams, Qalandar Eleven, led by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Bhittai Eleven, captained by Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar, playing a 15-overs-a-side match.

Qalandar Eleven included notable players alongside Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah such as Speaker Sindh Assembly Syed Owais Qadir Shah, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Farah Shah, Imdad Pitafi, Farhan Ansari, Sikandar Shoro, Ali Hassan Hangoro, Muhammad Umar, Fayyaz Butt, Mustafa Umar, Nasir Qureshi, Asad Ishaq, and Farid Ali.
Bhittai Eleven featured Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar, Ali Khurshidi, Halar Wasan, Pir Majeeb, Arbab Amanullah, Najm Mirza, Muhammad Moiz, Sharjeel Memon, Syed Sharq Jamal, Zahid Mahmood, Sajid Mir, Hamza Ali, and Ali Asghar.

The match began with Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Imdad Pitafi opening the batting for Qalandar Eleven. Imdad Pitafi was dismissed early after being run out, and Syed Farhan Ansari joined the crease. Murad Ali Shah scored 5 runs before being dismissed by Khurram Soomro. At one point, Speaker Sindh Assembly Owais Qadir Shah took to the field, scoring a well-fought 27 runs before being bowled out by MPA Halar Wasan, amidst some debate over the legitimacy of his dismissal.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon stepped in to bat following Shah’s dismissal. On the bowling front, Sports Minister Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar delivered an impressive performance, contributing significantly to the game.

This friendly contest was part of the province’s Independence Day events aimed at promoting sportsmanship and fostering unity among government officials and dignitaries.
