KARACHI (Aug 2): A notable meeting presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah brought together representatives from media, civil society, showbiz, sports, journalists, and national athletes to discuss the upcoming Independence Day celebrations with the theme of Marqa-e-Haq.

The meeting included notable figures such as provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Syed Nasir Shah, Saeed Ghani, Zulfiqar Shah, and several key officials, including Secretary to CM Raheem Shaikh, Secretary GA Mohammad Ali Khoso, Secretary Information, and Secretary Culture Khair Mohammad.

Among the attendees were prominent personalities such as Faisal Edhi, Jahangir Khan, Moin Khan, senior actors Mustafa Qureshi, Munawar Saeed, Ahmad Shah, senior journalist Ghazi Salahuddin, and athletes like Younis Khan and Naseem Hameed, demonstrating a united front for the celebrations.

 

The Chief Minister emphasised that this year’s festivities are not merely about celebrating Independence but also commemorating a historical victory against oppression. He expressed a desire for all intellectuals and members of various schools of thought to actively participate in the celebration.

 

In his remarks, Murad Shah noted that he has already held discussions with religious scholars and leaders from different faiths regarding the significance of Independence Day. The objective of inviting all celebrities was to gather their input and encourage their participation in the festivities.

 

The Sindh government has officially commenced the Independence Day celebrations from August 1, with Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon providing insights into the scheduled sports, cultural, musical, and other programmes organised by the government. He told the meeting that 162 different programmes would be held to celebrate the independence.

 

All athletes, actors, and journalists present assured their enthusiastic participation in these events, and the attendees congratulated the CM on the vibrant plans for the Independence Day celebrations.
