KARACHI (October 24): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah issued special messages marking the United Nations’ 80th Anniversary, World Development Information Day, Global Media and Information Literacy Week, and World Polio Day, reaffirming his government’s dedication to global peace, sustainable development, digital literacy, and public health.

80th Anniversary of the UN:

The chief minister congratulated the UN and its member states on eight decades of global service, calling the organisation “a symbol of peace, human rights, and global cooperation.” He affirmed Sindh’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in education, health, and social welfare.

While commending the UN’s efforts, he highlighted unresolved issues in Kashmir and Palestine as major challenges to global justice, urging the UN to take concrete steps for their resolution. He stressed, “the killing of thousands of innocent Palestinians, including children, raises serious questions about the UN’s role. As it marks 80 years, the organisation must re-evaluate its performance and renew its commitment to protecting humanity.”

Mr Shah also praised the UN’s support during the floods in Pakistan, especially Sindh, noting ongoing collaborations on rehabilitation, climate resilience, and development under Agenda 2030 and the Pact for the Future.
