HYDERABAD ( April 18): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah addressed a large crowd at a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rally, emphasising the party’s enduring popularity and commitment to safeguarding the rights of people of his province.

He stated that the large turnout was a clear indication of the public’s trust and support for PPP.

Public Support for PPP: At the outset, Murad Ali Shah highlighting that the rally’s massive attendance was a testament to the growing popularity of PPP. “The people of Hyderabad have once again shown their strength and support for the PPP, sending a clear message to those who are trying to undermine the people’s trust,” he said.

Defending Sindh’s Rights: Mr Shah also referred to the party’s unwavering stance on protecting Sindh’s water rights and resources. He recalled that during critical times in the past, such as the controversial proposals for the construction of canals and dams, PPP was not in power, but the party never backed down from fighting for Sindh’s interests. “Whenever there was an attack on Sindh’s rights, PPP was not in power, but we stood firm in defending our land and our resources,” he said.

Controversial Projects: The CM also took a firm stance against the construction of projects like the Kalabagh Dam and Thal Canal, which have been a source of contention in Sindh. “The PPP has always been against such projects that would harm the people of Sindh,” he said. He also recalled that the late Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had led a powerful protest at Khamo Shaheed to prevent the Kalabagh Dam project from proceeding, ensuring its burial. He assured the crowd that PPP would never allow such projects to materialize in the future.

The Chief Minister did not hesitate to criticise rival political parties, particularly those engaging in artificial protests. “These parties were silent when crucial decisions regarding Sindh’s resources were made, but now they are trying to incite false outrage,” he said. “They were nowhere to be found when critical issues like the canals and dams were being discussed. Today, they speak only to create political noise.”

Reaffirming his commitment to Sindh’s welfare, Mr Shah said, “The people of Sindh know that if anyone stands firm for their rights, it is only the PPP.” He called on the people to continue supporting the party in its mission to protect Sindh’s interests, especially when it comes to water, land, and resource management.

Murad Ali Shah vowed  that the PPP would continue to be the voice of Sindh, standing strong against any attempt to undermine the province’s rights. His speech was a reminder that the party remains committed to both provincial and national progress, ensuring that the interests of the people of Sindh are protected at all costs.

This rally, held in Hyderabad, reinforced the PPP’s vision of defending the rights of Sindh while promoting inclusive and sustainable development for the future of Pakistan.
