KARACHI (Oct 30): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has received a report from Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon detailing traffic rule violations under the newly introduced E-Ticketing System, which has issued fines to 35 official vehicles for various infractions.
According to the report, e-challans were issued for offences such as not wearing seatbelts, running red lights, using tinted windows, and operating mobile phones while driving.
The Chief Minister had previously directed the IG Police to submit details about the first e-challan issued under the new system. The report revealed that a police department vehicle (registration SPE-950) was fined for a seatbelt violation on Lyari Expressway at 1:36 p.m. on October 28, 2025. DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah informed the Chief Minister that the vehicle’s driver was twice observed not wearing a seatbelt between Garden and Lyari Expressway, triggering the automated system to issue a Rs. 10,000 fine.
The CM said that first-time offenders can have their fines waived within 10 days by appearing in person and submitting an apology.
Chief Minister Murad Shah commended the E-Ticketing System’s effectiveness, emphasising that no one is above the law: “Even the police must comply with traffic regulations. This system upholds fairness and accountability for all citizens.”
Mr Shah underlined the importance of traffic law compliance for public safety and directed that first-time challans be waived but repeat offenders must pay fines without exception. Shah praised Sindh Police for implementing modern enforcement, noting the system’s success in promoting discipline and transparency.
“All citizens have equal rights under the law - compliance must be ensured across the board,” Shah concluded.
