Sindh CM takes notice of honour killing, blast on railway track

KARACHI (July 28): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the tragic murder of a girl in Kandiyaro due to her love marriage. He has directed the Inspector General of Police and the Chief Secretary to submit a detailed report.

The Chief Minister condemned the killing in the name of customs and beliefs as utterly unacceptable. He ordered the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and strict legal action against them.

Murad Ali Shah made it clear that those delivering verdicts under the name of jirga (tribal council) are also criminals. He stated that killings of women in the name of honour would never be tolerated.

The Chief Minister assured the family of the deceased that justice will be delivered, emphasising that the government is committed to protecting women’s rights and ensuring their safety.

Railway track explosion: Murad Shah has taken immediate notice of a railway track explosion near Jhamar Wah, close to Shikarpur. The blast caused three carriages of the Jaffar Express to derail at approximately 10:20 am.

The Chief Minister ordered the provision of immediate medical aid to the injured. Updates confirmed that multiple people were injured, but fortunately, there were no casualties.

Rescue teams and police arrived promptly at the site and continued their relief efforts. Rail traffic has been temporarily suspended on this route, affecting other train services.
Murad Ali Shah has directed a thorough investigation into the incident and vowed to bring the responsible parties to justice, describing the explosion as an attack against the state. He stressed that no one involved will be spared.

CM’s message on World Hepatitis Day:

On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to every citizen of Sindh.

He said the Sindh government remains at the forefront of the fight against hepatitis, expanding free testing and treatment services for hepatitis B and C across urban and rural areas.

The Chief Minister urged the public to adopt precautionary measures and seek timely treatment. He expressed Sindh’s dedication to eliminating hepatitis by 2030 in line with global health targets.
Murad Ali Shah emphasised that significant investments have been made in the health sector to ensure a healthier Sindh, with continued cooperation with the World Health Organisation towards achieving these goals.
