CM Mural Ali Shah meets 19-year-old Boxer Aaliya Soomro, offers support

KARACHI (May 8): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with Aaliya Soomro, a 19-year-old boxing champion from Lyari, awarded her a cash prize of Rs 1 million and offered assistance from the government, including the option of a professional coach if needed.

The meeting took place at the CM House and was attended by Provincial Minister Ali Hassan Zardari, Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, and Members of the Provincial Assembly Shazia Kareem and Muhammad Yousuf.

Aaliya Soomro recently made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to win a world boxing title. Currently, she is training in Thailand and is scheduled to face an Indian boxer in Dubai in two months.

In recognition of Aaliya's achievement, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah encouraged her to begin preparing for the Asian Games, assuring her of continued support. "Work hard; the Sindh government will stand by you," he added.
